The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers hint that Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) has a very sad reckoning on the horizon when Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) exits GC. The plot point is connected to Christel Khalil’s maternity leave so let’s explore how her leaving goes down.

Christel Khalil’s Maternity Leave

Khalil is expecting her third child and will take maternity leave from the CBS soap. There are several ways the character could take her leave of GC.

For one, her twins are having a hard time dealing with their scoundrel dad Cane’s seedy double life. Why independent adults in college would care that dad played dress up as Aristotle Dumas for six years is up for debate, but here we are. They are gutted.

So, Lily might go off to spend time with Charlie Ashby (Noah Alexander Gerry) and Mattie Ashby (Lexie Stevenson).

Will Lily and the Twins Get Along Without Cane?

That is a scenario that makes sense, having Lily and the twins try to survive what Cane has put them through—becoming a famous billionaire so they can live a better life. The agony.

But think what it would do to Cane knowing that his family is bonding without him by trashing his lifestyle.

Second, maybe Cane’s past as mysterious Aristotle Dumas comes back to bite him. No doubt Dumas made many enemies as he stomped his way to the top, and that could mean revenge that targets Lily.

Cane Must Awaken His Conscience

Perhaps the bad guys kidnap Lily, resulting in her absence. In this situation Cane would be beside himself knowing that his actions led his ex-wife to harm.

Then again, the reason for Lily’s absence from the canvas may be as mundane as a solo vacation or extended business outside of town.

But no matter the reason for Lily’s absence, it will affect Cane deeply. It will also give us a reprieve from Cane’s Lily obsession and their possible reunion.

Tell us Y&R fans, do you want Lily and Cane to get back together? Or has that ship sailed? Each is at odds with the other, and it would be a big challenge for them to reacquire the magic they once had.
