Nikki gets her back up with her old rival and informs her that this is Claire’s decision to make… without interference. Diane rants about Victor becoming a cancer to their relationship. Nikki defends her husband, which causes Diane’s voice to shoot up several octaves in protest. Claire tells Diane she’s doing this because she doesn’t know how to love Kyle back and that’s not fair to either of them. Diane walks away.

Victoria switches gears and asks why Claire chose Los Angeles. Her daughter explains that Holden will be there on business and offered to show her around. Victor gawps, but admits she found him quite charming. They hope she’s not jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Claire, with a grin that suggests her true feelings, insists they’re just friends. She’s never gone on an adventure and Cole’s death taught her that you shouldn’t wait.

At Society, Nikki and Victoria go over Claire’s decision. They agree she needs to experience more of life, but Nikki’s not happy about Holden’s connection to Cane and his past with Audra Charles. They decide that they’ll ask Nick to check up on Claire in Los Angeles (which probably won’t go over well).

Claire stumbles upon Kyle in the park. He’s confrontational about finding out from his mother that she’s going to L.A. He insinuates that she’s running, and asks if she’s that desperate to get away from him. Claire reminds him this isn’t about him… it’s about her. Kyle suggests it’s also about Holden. Turning nasty, he accuses Claire of using the excuse of needing to find herself to dump him and spend more time with Holden Novak.
