Emmerdale’s Isabel Hodgins has been enjoying time with her husband ahead of the arrival of their baby.

The soap star, who has played Victoria Sugden since 2006, married her partner, Adam Whitehead, earlier this year in a fairytale ceremony in Manchester.

She met Adam, a PE teacher, at a gym, and they’ve been together for three years. They actually went to the same school growing up, but their paths didn’t cross until much later due to them being three years apart.

In August, Isabel announced that she is pregnant with her first baby.

The star, who is 31, spoke to OK! Magazine and laughed about how Adam, 28, was actually the one to tell her that she was expecting.

‘Isabel was late by a few days, so she did a test. But then, she just threw it on the floor, and it was upside down just lying there,’ Adam explained.

‘I didn’t want to look at it, as I felt it would make time go slower to stare. But Mr Impatient comes along to look at it and sees that it’s positive,’ Isabel joked.

‘But I thought, “Surely we can’t trust it because it’s been upside down, so it might have impacted the result.” We rushed to Boots to buy three more, and they were all positive too, so we thought it must be right!’

Over the weekend, Isabel and Adam spent time together at a spa in Cheshire. It was a perfect break for the couple, as their lives will soon change when their little baby arrives.

Sharing a variety of pictures on her Instagram, Isabel wrote alongside: ‘Celebrating 6 months married and being 24 weeks pregnant. The dreamiest little pre-baby getaway @cardenpark Lovely pamper with a pregnancy massage and facial followed by a delicious afternoon tea.

‘Feeling so relaxed and grateful for such a special stay.’

Of course, Isabel will take time off from Emmerdale when her baby arrives, which she has mixed emotions about.

‘I will miss it’, Isabel added in her chat.

‘I love the people there, but I’ve worked there for 19 years, so I feel like I’ve done what I’ve wanted to do and been selfish with my career. Now, it’s time to devote my life to being a mum, that feels right to me.’

At the moment, Isabel’s Emmerdale character Victoria is still trying to adjust to a new normal after learning the truth about her brother John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth).

John arrived in the village last year, after meeting Vic at his mother’s funeral.

At first, he was reluctant to get to know Vic and her son Harry but when he started a relationship with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), John stuck around, and then connected with his sister.

Due to John’s hero complex, he orchestrated many deadly events in the village, just so he could save the person involved.

As a result of this and his history as an army medic, John convinced the majority of residents, including Victoria, that he was a hard-working member of the community.

Everything changed for John in the summer, when his partner Aaron discovered that he was holding Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) hostage.

A showdown by a gorge resulted in John throwing himself and Aaron off a cliff, to prevent his husband from reuniting with Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley).

The two were rushed to hospital, leaving Robert to try and convince his loved ones that John was responsible. Even then, Victoria refused to believe that John was a bad person, and decided that Robert pushed them both in an act of jealousy.

But once Aaron woke up from his coma, the truth was revealed.

He confirmed that John had kidnapped Mack and killed Nate, leaving Victoria with the horrifying reality that she had been completely manipulated by a man she barely knew.
