Emmerdale’s Mandy Dingle star Lisa Riley has opened up on the chaos that can happen when filming alongside her on-screen husband, Dominic Brunt. Speaking to Daily Star in collaboration with Betway, Lisa revealed that while working with Paddy Dingle star Dom is a joy, it’s not always smooth sailing.

Lisa admitted she “endlessly” have scenes go off the rails, telling us: “Working with my husband in character, he is my best friend in the whole world, and there are things that can go wrong because of the clumsiness of the scene, but we will happily go on.

“If you know your lines so well, you can keep going on and on and keep the scene flowing perfectly. That is how it would happen in real life. If something falls over, you carry on, and Dom and I know the lines, especially when you’re playing comedy, that’s brilliant.”

Even seasoned pros like Lisa admit some moments can get awkward. She recalled a hilarious incident during a steamy scene with Dom: “We had to stop the other week because we are on at a certain time of night, so you can only show so much skin.

“Once we had to stop, though, I had to run downstairs after a time of passion with Paddy, and there was too much skin, so we had to go ‘cut, let’s go again.'”

Lisa also revealed who she enjoys working with most on the set. Unsurprisingly, it’s her soap husband.

“We have that trust in each other, he is the best of the best. We were filming last week with things coming up towards Christmas, and it is so nice to do the comedy, but it is great to do the high-end drama together and that pain of a couple.”

She explained that while Mandy and Paddy are often seen as the comedic duo of the village, their dramatic scenes are just as fulfilling.

“As a couple, Mandy and Paddy are the loyalty of the village, and people lean on them. We really enjoy doing that, while people see us as the comedy couple, we love doing the drama too – it’s great and is good for us as actors.”
