April and Dylan reach decision as they fear death in Emmerdale ITVX release

The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.
Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) has trapped Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) and April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) in a dangerous world of drug dealing in Emmerdale.
When Dylan returned to the village earlier this year, we discovered he had started working for Ray. Keen to help her friend, April was drawn into the murky industry as well.
At first, she began completing jobs on behalf of Dylan, but then started taking on tasks herself because Ray decided she’d be useful.
While out by a canal, disaster struck for April when she lost a bag of drugs due to a young man pulling a knife on her. She gave him the bag and ran, and then feared she’d face Ray’s angry wrath once he discovered the items were missing.
Dylan and April updated Ray but instead of him losing his cool, he became on edge. He called his bosses to let them know, and then told the teens that there was a way to pay off their debt without getting into too much trouble.

Ray told Dylan and April that they’d just have to complete more jobs and eventually gain back the money lost. Due to the fact we know Ray had paid the boy to scare April, this development was simply part of his plan to leave the teens with no choice but to work for him.
After Dylan caught April dealing outside a university, he attempted to tell Ray that his girlfriend shouldn’t be involved.
It was in the latest instalment that saw Ray manipulate Dylan even further, as he said if he tried to cross the ‘big bosses’ and pull April out of the plan, they could have him killed.
Ray got off the phone and made out that the bosses weren’t happy at all, and Dylan was fearful.

Due to the fact Ray has tricked Dylan into thinking they’re pals, he couldn’t bare the thought of Ray being in danger. He told him that they should call the bosses back and say they’ve changed their minds, and continue assigning jobs to April after all.
Ray made out that Dylan had just saved his life in that moment, and left the house as he called the number again.
A while later, Dylan updated April, who was in agreement that carrying on with the dealing was the best thing to do. They’d chip away at the debt this way, and also keep Ray safe.
But judging by the weird phone calls and what we know about Ray already, it’s probably safe to assume he was never in any real trouble.

One person who will be in jeopardy this week is April’s brother Leo.
When Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) innocently asks her to be a big sister and look after Leo for a while, April’s focus is split when Ray demands she do a job for him.
She’s desperate to earn as much as quickly as she can and can’t turn the job down. Not that she has any choice.
She weighs it up and decides Leo will be fine for a few hours and rushes off. As she does so, she drops a packet of pills.
On her return she’s faced with her worst nightmare, Leo being put in an ambulance having found the pills.
Enough is enough for a petrified April, who hurriedly tells Dylan she wants to come clean and get out of the game for good. She’s ready to stand up to Ray too.
What she doesn’t realise is that Ray has overheard every word. He’s desperate to protect his empire, and April is merely a disposable pawn.
