“TV industry shocked by passing of ‘Blue Bloods’ actor Gregory Jbara”

Maria Baez’s future in Boston Blue has been confirmed by series creator Brandon Margolis following her surprising return in the series premiere. The premiere of Boston Blue featured a guest appearance from Baez, who was shown to still be in a romantic relationship with Danny Reagan. However, the two are separated by distance due to the protagonist’s job in Boston.

At the end of Boston Blue episode 2, Danny decides to stay in Boston so he can be closer to Sean, his son who’s a rookie cop in the city. He’s convinced after talking it over with the rest of the Reagan family off-screen, with Baez presumably also knowing about his decision. The pair’s relationship is now long-distance.

Speaking with TVLine, Margolis explained that Danny’s decision in Boston Blue won’t impact how much Baez shows up. The co-creator confirmed she’ll be back in episode 3, and that she’ll make semi-frequent appearances throughout season 1. Her story with Danny involving their long-distance relationship will be a key part of numerous episodes moving forward. Check out what Margolis said below:

Tune into Episode 3. Baez will return — multiple times in the first season — and it’s a story we’re going to tell. The struggle of moving to a new place and what you leave behind is front and center, and that includes the relationship with Baez, which continues for multiple episodes this season.

Marisa Ramirez as Maria Baez staring ahead in Blue Bloods

The cast of Boston Blue consists of a number of new faces, from Sonequa Martin-Green as Detective Lena Silver, to the rest of the Silver family and her grandfather, Ernie Hudson’s Reverend Edwin Peters. However, Margolis’ statement emphasizes how the show won’t be dropping its significant plot points from the original, despite how far away Danny is from home.

Baez’s return in Boston Blue was previously addressed by actor Marisa Ramirez, who hinted that tensions may rise between the couple because of their long-distance relationship. While she didn’t reveal any concrete details about what happens, it seems like there’s going to be a possible rift that grows between them as the series continues. How, though, remains unclear.

With her return in episode 3 confirmed, it seems like Danny and Baez’s relationship will still be progressing despite the problem of distance. But, as Margolis said, her occasional returns will have a core focus on the duo’s romance. The fact the storyline is planned through season 1 hints there may be an endgame for it planned out already.

Given the uncertainty of Danny and Baez’s romance moving forward, her returning appearances on Boston Blue will be vital for the main character’s development and what he decides to do. Since his residency in Boston is likely going to last longer than he anticipates, it’s possible he finds something there that upends any plans he currently has.
