If Days of Our Lives Does What We’re Afraid They Will, There May Be No Coming Back This Time!

All we could think as we were watching Thursday’s Days of Our Lives episode was, “What are you thinking, Chanel??” She knows Sophia hates her and Johnny. She knows the teen didn’t want them to have Trey. And she knows that Sophia schemed like crazy to not just keep them from adopting, but to ruin Chanel and Johnny’s relationship in the process. So she decides to… pay Sophia a visit??

There may be some truth in Chanel telling Johnny that for better or worse Sophia is Trey’s mother, but even if you think you have to figure out a way to move forward in a healthy manner, you wait until after Sophia’s treatment is done and she’s in a healthier mental place! But the damage is done. Sophia knows Chanel is pregnant. And that’s just made her more determined than ever to get Trey away from his adoptive parents. And she’s so obsessed and chilling at this point, she even scared Melinda. (Also, it seems pretty clear she’s about to blackmail Melinda.)

All of this is bad, bad news, because we’re not just talking about getting Trey away from Chanel and Johnny anymore. Now there’s a pregnancy involved.

Back when Soaps.com spoke with Rachel Boyd, she insisted that she didn’t see Sophia as a villain. She’s a mother who will do anything that she feels is best for her child. But it seems there is a limit to that. Because Boyd also added one interesting tidbit.

If, she suggested, “you make somebody out to be a villain again and again and again for making decisions that that are authentic and and pure for them with the knowledge that they have at that time, well, then don’t be surprised if this person really does turn into exactly what you keep telling them that they are!”

Doing what she thinks is best for her child is all well and good, but if Sophia ends up going too far and costing Chanel her pregnancy… That’s just about as unforgivable a sin as you can imagine. And like it or not, it’s one that happens on soap operas more often than we’d like. There’s just about no way to justify that as anything other than villainous and it’s tough to see Sophia coming back from that, Salem’s penchant for forgiveness or not.

Maybe someday she could be redeemed, but at that point, she will have to pay a price, or folks will forever be out for blood. And that may mean her being sent off to prison. We hope it’s not going there — not just for Sophia’s sake, but for Johnny and Chanel’s — but this pregnancy has us more worried than we’ve been in a while. The show’s been priming us to feel that way, and in the end, the real trouble may not come from within.
